I walked through the door hoping i would be the only one here. I knew from the start that wasn't going to be the case, and yet I'm still standing here.
" Hey, I didn't realise you would be here today," He said as he looked up from his phone. I don't know why that stung but it did. He used to be the one thing that drove me crazy. Now, he was the only person who could make me cry just by looking at me. But i didn't give him the pleasure this time. I sucked a breathe trying my hardest not to let the tears spill over.
" yeah, well i needed to grab a couple of things before heading back to the warehouse," it wasn't a complete lie. I did need something from my room before I went back to the warehouse. But I would have come here first anyway. It was my old home after all. There were days where I would just go into my old room and try to remember why I left the team. I still had some stuff in my old room and no one had asked me if they could give it to one of the new team members.
" Oh, ok, um it was good to see you," he said it as though he felt bad. Like he would ever feel bad about what he did to me. What happened a year ago. It still stung but i learnt to get past it.

I heard the door come down. I had hoped she would be coming here today. She always did. I missed her so badly.
She just left again. Why can't I just go after her I thought. She still meant the world to me. Some days she would just see me and start crying. That stung more than ever. I think I broke her. and I couldn't bear it. She left the team because of what I did. No, she left because she got an offer from our mentors to join them, not because you hurt her I thought. Cassie, Why can't you see I never stopped caring about you?
There was no point denying it any more. I ran out of the hall and head straight after her. She wasn't going to get away from me again. Not anymore. I was going to get her back if it was the last thing I did.
I was running faster than i had before pushing forward trying to get to her before she left forever.
Okay, well maybe not forever but for a long time and chances where she was going to avoid me. like she had been for the past months.

I grabbed the things i needed from my old room and left. I didn't particularly want to leave yet but Lachlan was here and i didn't want to have to look at him any longer the necessary. I ran a while to my old spot right by the edge of the beach. We were lucky growing up here. As heroes we got to live here and with our families- if we had one to go to- and get to go to the water everyday because the "Cave" was right by the beach. It was our backyard.
I walked to the edge and dipped my feet in. I sat for a while thinking. If Lachlan had really cared he would have payed more attention to her and she wouldn't have the scare she had now.
I had happened a while ago now but every now and then it would hurt. Cassie thought back to what had happened.
"Get down!" I heard Lachlan yell out. We were fighting a mob of escaped prisoners from the local jail. When I say local I mean the high security prison on the island out in the ocean. I heard Abram using his sonic waves to take down a few of them. I saw Mel taking down a few others with a new spell she had learned and the I saw Lachlan fighting one of the bigger guys. Figures, I thought.
" Naughty, Naughty, miss Raven," I heard the Riddler using my hero name. " Come and play miss Raven, I have been wanting a rematch for ever so long," He was taunting me but I knew that I couldn't not fight him.
" FIne then, but you'll be in your cell by then end of the day," I tell him getting ready. Summoning fire in one hand and ice in the other.
" Let's not use our powers hmm, Just hand to hand. Yes?" he knew that I would bait easily. And I did. I threw the ice to the ground and blew out the fire. We started fighting. throwing punches and blocking each others hits.
Then out of no where he had a knife. He held it to my throat and told me not to scream. Of coarse I did the opposite.
" Lachlan, Help!" Lachlan had just finished with his guy and turned to me to help me out. But he froze. He just stood there staring at me like I was already dead. Thats when he did what I wasn't expecting. He threw his knife at the Riddler's head. As the Riddler moved to dodge the knife he stabbed me in the gut.
" Raven!" Lachlan called out. As I dropped to the floor he just stood there in shock and did nothing. I was dying and he did nothing.
Knight and Mel came over to me. Knight sat me across him to look at the wound. It was deep. He put pressure to stop the bleeding but it was barely doing a thing so he told Mel to use one of her spells to stop it.
That was when i blacked out.
I came out of the memory to find that there were tears coming down my face. And shocked to find that someone was holding me in their arms and telling me sorry.
Lachlan. I looked at him and he did the last thing I expected. He kissed me. I gave in and kissed him back. And for the next few minutes everything was perfect.
