New day
What are you meant to
do when everyone you care about leaves you? Run far far away and leave them for
good and hurt them like they hurt you. Right? I did. I ran to Tyler. Ran to the
Camp Frostline and ran to comfort.
Everyone there
thought I did the right thing. It was what I was meant to do. But I just found
a reason to leave them too.
Tyler followed me. He
wouldn't let me leave, wouldn't let me fall apart like I was. He believed in
me. Loved me and cared for me.
We went back to camp
and I stayed with him. For once I was happy. For once I felt like everything
was the way it was meant to be.
But then I woke up. I
realized it was a dream. The running. Tyler and the camp. My feelings of
comfort and my safety net.
I went back to school
and everyone was trying to stay away from me. Everyone was ignoring me. Even
the ones who were meant to be my friends. The people who never left, were gone.
I wanted to die. I
ran. I fell. And I stayed on the floor until Tyler really did come and take
me to Camp Frostline. I found my comfort and safety net and I hurt the ones
who thought they were hurting me.
I won. And I will
never let them beat me. Not even if they knock me down and beat me to near
death I will get back up and fight them again.
I am Scarlet. And I
will win this war.
It's been a month
since I arrived at camp. And for once I feel like I belong. No one is trying to
bring me down. We train for most of the day and during the free time I either
go off with some people for a swim or go off on a run with Ty.
Tonight I've been
lying in bed thinking about when I was younger and people would get upset at me
because I was in the spotlight for once and not them. I would turn around and
people would be talking about me.
It's not like that here
though. No one bullies or cares we have fun because we're all we got. Most of
have left our families some of us for good. So being at camp is just like being
at home with a bunch of cousins and brothers and sisters.
When Ty and I went on
our run today Ty pulled us off the track and ran along the bank of a river
until we came to a clearing near a pool of water and a waterfall. It was
beautiful and magical all at once. We spent the whole day there talking and
laughing and having fun. No came and stopped us or came looking for us. So it
was perfect. I was finally where I was meant to be!
