Chapter 12
First Day of School
Raven
Getting off of the Zeta I ran through the grounds and up to
the mansion to be met by Harry standing there in his uniform. It was pretty
much the same as mine except he wore long grey pants and wore the blazer.
“About time too, what took you so long?”
“ Had an emergency sleep-over night with Bec and Tahlia last
night. Tahlia’s parents and her had another fight. When I got back to the cave
I found her there crying hysterically, well almost anyway. So I called an
emergency sleep-over to try and get her mind off of things,”
“ Makes sense, have you eaten yet? Simon made crepes.”
“ You read my mind!” I followed Scar back inside the mansion
and went into the kitchen. It was the only time we would eat in there, during
the morning, because everyone was in such a rush no one would really have time
for a big breakfast together. The many times I had slept over here I knew this
from.
“ Morning Cassie, would you like some crepes?” I laughed
because he was already handing me the plate knowing my answer would be yes.
“ Thank you Simon, how are you this morning?”
“ I am good thank you. I take it you got a good sleep last
night?”
I shot Harry a quick glare telling him to keep quiet about
the whole ‘ emergency sleep-over’ thing because Simon would kill me if he knew.
“ Of course, I had a nice long sleep and no nightmares this
time,” not a complete lie, just not the whole truth.
“ Good, because you have a big day ahead of you. We will
leave for school as soon as you finish, you have a meeting with the principle
at 8 o’clock,” I turn my head to check the time on the clock, it was currently
seven-thirty, Quickly finishing the food on my plate I put my dishes in the
dishwasher and washed my hands.
“ Okay then, let’s roll,”
“ Wait! Don’t I even get a good morning?” I saw Dean coming
round the corner so I went to go and give him a hug. “ That’s better, now you
go and have a great day. Also before I forget, make sure you come straight back
to the cave as soon as school finishes today, I have a job for the core,”
“ Ok, I’ll see you then Dean,” Harry gave Dean a quick hug
and headed out the door, with myself and Simon following him to the large black
limousine out the front of the house.
“ I can’t believe you take this to school everyday. Soon as
I get my licence I’m going to be getting a Jeep, you know which one right?” I
asked Harry. He nodded his head and jumped into the back of the limo. Myself
following him in I saw that there was a small TV in there. It was currently playing the news.
“ This morning an
attack was struck against Tyrene by Octave, no one was killed, Flameshore and
Phoenix came in and saved the day…” The screen some footage of Phoenix and
Flameshore flying and attacking Octave with fire. I drew in a sharp breathe
remembering that Chelsea had just moved to go to college up at Tyrene State
College.
“ Good to see they had it under control. Hey, I forgot to
ask, but was I adopted as Cassie or as Brooke? And which was I enrolled at
school as?” I turned to Harry as he turned down the volume on the TV.
“ Hmmm, I thought you would know seeing as you and Dean were
settling all of the adoption details without telling me about it,”
“Never really came up I guess, I just knew he was adopting
me,” I whipped out my phone and sent out a quick text.
To Dean:
Quick question, which
was I adopted as, Cassie or Brooke? Also which was I enrolled as?
“ I hope you finally get to ditch the whole Cassie and
Brooke thing, it can be really confusing,”
Tell me about it,
I thought to myself as my phone buzzed in my hand.
From Dean:
Legally, Cassie
Roaden, and you were enrolled as Cassie as well. I figure you can handle
yourself well
enough now that you don't need to be protected with a false
identity.
Looks like your hoping has come through for me. I am
officially Cassie Roaden again!” I was so happy that I could finally use my
real, birth name in public again. Sure the core knew about the whole Cassie and
Brooke thing but it was just so confusing, and no one wants to have to change
their name when their family is all gone.
“ Good, but you might want to text Becca because she might
yell out Brooke as you walk through the school gates,” Scar warned me.
“ Oh yeah I better brief you on the story I told her about
my adoption. That way if there is any questions, you don’t give out something
that could blow your cover,” So for the rest of the car ride I brief Scar on
the story and watch the news. We come up with a little more for the story I had
created that way if we were asked question we could answer them easily.
“ Okay, I think that's all good. How long to you think its
going to be before the news finds out about me being your new sister. I mean,
it took them an hour before you were all over the news. Dean is quite the
celebrity,” I laughed a little at that. He was one of the richest people in the
world. Scratch that, he was the richest person in the world.
“ Hundred dollars says two hours before we get surrounded by
the paparazzi asking questions about how you were adopted,” I shook Harry’s
hand.
“ Sure, but I think that we have until after school to enjoy
it,”
“Your on!”

As I entered the school gates I saw Becca waving at me. I
waved back and grabbed Harry’s hand and dragged him off to go and talk to her. She
was wearing the same thing as me but without the vest, and wearing the blazer.
Her bag was also different. It was more of a light grey tote bag then a
messenger bag.
“ You get my text?”
“ Yes! That is amazing new Cassie! Your finally free!” I
laughed at her choice of words and grabbed her in a hug.
“ That's definitely one way to put it. So how about you take
me the office?”
“Hey! I thought you said I could do that!” Harry jumped from
beside me to join in on the hug. I feel Becca laughing and release to give my
friend a smile.
“ How about we all go, Principle Barren wanted to see me
anyway,” Becca said hugging Harry back. “ How you been Harry? Good summer?”
“ Yeah, but the best part was finally finding out that
Cassie was adopted into the family,”
“ Wait, so that's why you were moved here? Because you were
adopted by Dean Carrile?” True to her nature, Becca was giving quite the
performance. Because Becca didn’t know
that Harry was actually Scar, and she thought he didn’t know she was a hero
because of this, she had to act like she didn’t know.
“ Yeah, Dean adopted her. Apparently they had been working
on it together for the past few months and didn’t tell me. Anyway, how do you
two know each other?” Harry raised an eyebrow. Thankfully, Becca and I had come
up with a story about that a few years ago, because we kept meeting up and
having to lie. This was because there was no logical reason for me to know her
because at the time I had been living in Moonrise City.
“ Oh that's because her dad once worked for my dads company,
before he died. We met each other when we were younger and have been friends
ever since,” Becca told the story. I had to try so had to keep myself from
laughing because it was so weird having Becca talk like this, not knowing it
was Scar she was talking to.
“ Shall we go to see the principle. My meeting is at eight
and its five to,”
“Sure, let’s go,” Harry grabbed my hand and started to drag
me off. But not before I got a hold of Becca’s arm.
* * *
“ Good morning Miss Roaden, how are you?” Principle Barren
asked as our little trio entered his office and sat down infront of desk.
“ Good thank you. How are you?”
“ I am well. Mister Cain, Miss Grange, thank you for showing
Cassie down here. I was told that Harry and you are now brother and sister, is
that true?” He turned to look at me once again after giving a curt nod towards
Becca and Harry.
“ Yes sir, the final paperwork went through yesterday. I’m
quite happy, we have been like brother and sister since we were young and now
we actually are,” I smiled at being called Harry’s sister again.
Harry shot me a smile before turning back to the principle.
“ Well congratulations then, I hope you feel welcome to our
school. Here is you timetable and locker number and combination, right next to
Miss Grange’s if I am correct?” he turned his head towards Becca and raised a
pointed eyebrow at her.
Becca took a look at the sheet that held the number on it
and smiled.
“ Sure is sir, quite a memory you have,”
“ Well, since you are both in the same homeroom as well, I’m
sure you would be willing to give Miss Roaden a tour. Also, you will be sitting
in the advanced classes this year a part from math and science. I expect you
know why?”
“ Of course sir, it's the same reason I was held back,
because I failed those two exams last year,” Becca had a sharp tone in her
voice at that point. I was the when she got the call telling her that she was
going to be repeating tenth year. Lets just say that after that phone call,
well, Octave has had a limp for the past few months ever since.
“ Mister Cain, can we expect you to be helping in I.T again
this year?” Harry smiled and nodded his head. No wonder he is always so up to date, he gets to practice at school, I
laughed to myself a little realising this.
“ Well then you three best be off to go and show Cassie
around before school starts,” and with that the three of us were up and out of
his office and heading towards my locker. Becca and Harry would point out
places that I would need to go, like where my science class was, or where the
cafeteria was.
“So here is our lockers, mine is next to yours, and I think
Harry isn’t yours a few down?” Becca was pointing towards the right.
“ Yep, three across. Homeroom is in that classroom right
there,” Pointing to the classroom across the hall. “ And just down the hall is
where I.T is, you know if you ever need help with your computer,”
“ And you say you’ve known her for years. You know that
Cassie once hacked into my dads most secure files?”
“ Which ones would those have been Becca?”
“ My Birthday and Christmas gifts hiding locations,” the
three of us cracked up as I unlocked my locker to place my books away. Well,
the ones I would need for class anyway.
“ I’m serious though, dad has the most firewalls and
passcodes and stuff set up against those files. He knows I can break into his
computer, but I can’t get past the fifth firewall on those files, miss Cassie
here though,” Becca pat my shoulder and laughed a little,” it took her five
minutes to get through all of them and then we were hunting them down,” We were
all laughing again at this.
Ping, Ping
From Lachlan:
Have a great day at
school beautiful, can’t wait to see you later.
I smiled softly at the text before my phone was ripped from
my hands.
“ Ooooo, whose making you all happy hmm? I know that smile,
it's the ‘ I got a cute text from my crush’ smile,” Becca was already reading
it. “ Beautiful huh? Well, do tell,” she passed the phone down to Harry who
read it and gave a small laugh.
“ Lachlan’s just a friend,” Harry rolled his eyes at me.
“ Uhuh, tell her about the rest,” I gave my best glare at
him, trying to keep up the charade.
“ We, um, kissed. And will be going on a date,” Becca
started squealing, like she had when we in her room the day before.
“ Well, you better text him back then shouldn’t you, beautiful” I laughed at her as I took my
phone back.
To Lachlan:
Thanks, I can’t wait
to see you too. And beautiful? Thank you, but let’s not start giving out
nicknames just yet. Not really my thing.
It was a few seconds later that a response came back.
From Lachlan:
Okay, just thought I’d
tell you what you are. Becca texted me saying that you are now adopted, by Dean
Carrile no less. Congrats
To Lachlan:
Thanks, and I wish I
could’ve told you myself. I was planning on telling you this afternoon but no
matter. I’ll tell you this instead, I am now forever to be known as Cassie
Roaden. No more Brooke Bell.
From Lachlan:
I’m so happy for you.
Want to celebrate later?
To Lachlan:
Sure, I have to go
now, schools starting. I’ll see you at the cave straight after school.
Xxx
And with that the messages stopped coming. Putting my phone
in my skirts pockets I turned and smiled at my friends.
“ That took you quite some time didn’t it?” Becca looped her
arm through mine and grabbed Harry’s arm to lead us out the doors and into a
courtyard.
“ Oh shush you, your one to talk. Where are we going?” I
asked as I slapped her arm.
“ We’re going over to the guys. Harry you know who I’m
talking about right?”
“ Like I’m going to forget my own friends Becs,” I noticed
Harry rolling his eyes from the corner of my eye.
“ So I finally get to meet all of your friends. I didn’t
realise you guys even sat together, I mean with your year differences and
everything,”
“ Our groups pretty different with the ages, Harry’s the
youngest by a month, and I’m the second oldest, but each of us are all
different ages,”
“ Interesting, back at my old school, it was always people
the same age sitting together,” I explained to them. We were walking to a relatively
large group of students. The was about eight or nine there, and another few
walking over from the other side of the courtyard as well.
“ Hey guys, we want you to meet someone!” Becca calls out
across the yard. There’s a few “ Hey Harry, Hey Becca!” being called out as
people notice us. A few of them start to run over and wave at us at the same
time, which in turn makes Harry and Becca run towards them as well, pulling me
along with them.
“ Hey Dylan, Jane! This is Cassie, my bestie from the
Moonrise city, the one I’m always talking about,” Becca says as she meets them
half way and starts to walk towards the rest of the group.
“ Oh cool, welcome to the school, which year are you in?”
the girl, probably Jane, asks me. She has short blonde hair that's in two short
piggy tails and sharp green eyes, she’s wearing the same version of the uniform
as me and is hold a black tote similar to the one Becca has except a little
smaller and has studs along the strap.
She’s a little taller than me, but still shorter than Becca.
“ Year nine, and thanks,”
“So, why’d you move all the way out here?” Dylan, the guy,
asks. He is quite a bit taller than me
and wearing the same uniform as Harry. He has dark chocolate brown eyes and
hair to match, his hair is a little on the long side and flops around when he
shakes his head.
“ Um, I got adopted by Dean Carrile. I’m Harry’s new
sister,” I answer politely, trying to work out what would happen next. I
thought maybe they would be a little shocked, but I hadn’t expected the guy to
shout out across to the rest of the group what I had just said.
“ Dylan, did you have to do that? She just got here, she
doesn’t need to be crowded around for the next ten minutes before class,” Jane
says from beside. By now though there are about ten or so other students around
us.
Becca introduces me to all of the people in there group, but
I struggled to hold onto all of the names and faces that were coming into my
head. There are about four others in the group who are in year nine. Caitlin,
Dominic, Grace and Blake. As it turns out I have at least one of them in all of
my classes.
“ Okay everyone, time for homeroom!” One of the teachers in
the courtyard call out to all of us. The rest of the teachers try to herd the
students back inside of the school and into their classrooms.
“ Come on, we don’t want to be late. I can’t wait to see
your face when you meet our homeroom teacher!” I hear Harry whisper into my ear
as we start moving inside.
* * *
“ Welcome back everyone, we have a new face in our homeroom,
Cassie Roaden is it?” A low hum of whispers go throughout the room and I’m sure
it has something to do with my last name. Even to this day, you will here
things about how Riddler massacred my family on the news. I hadn’t told anyone
out in the courtyard my last name because I knew something like this would
happen.
“Yes, miss” I say back steadily trying not to let my voice
shake.
“Well, as you know, I am Miss Gemma Nocturn, or Miss Nocturn
as some of the older students call me,” Harry had been right about wanting to
see my face when I met my homeroom teacher. Thankfully we had been the firsts
ones into the room so I didn’t have to explain my weird face to everyone. Becca
couldn’t stop laughing at me, neither could Harry. Both saying because the look
on my face was “ just too good” but I knew the real reason. Gemma Nocturn, also
know as Stargazer, is apart of the HHC and currently dating Ramon, otherwise
known as Lumos. Frostfire and I had fought beside Stargazer quite a few times
in the past because we tend to patrol the same cities.
“ Ok Miss Nocturn,” I said back.
“ Ok guys, just do what you want, catch up with friends and
chat amongst yourselves. Becca and Cassie can I please speak to you for a
minute?” Becca and I got out of our seats and headed over to her desk.
“ When Omega told me another one of our young heroes would
be joining my homeroom I never thought it would be you Cassie. How are you?”
“ I’m good. I was adopted by Dean Carrile so I got moved to
the school,”
“ Congratulations! I am so happy for you! It’s about time
someone saw what an amazing person you are,” She stood up and came to give me a
hug. It was a little weird because I could feel the stares coming from behind
me.
“ If you and Becca ever need to leave early, come and find
me and I’ll sign you both out ok?” She said once releasing me from her hug.
“ Sure thing. How are things with Ramon going? I saw him
yesterday before we went to go and stop the Theos, but we didn’t really get the
chance to talk,”
“ Oh, things are wonderful thank you for asking. He just
moved into my place down by the lake here, it’s quite lovely,” Miss Nocturn sat
back on her desk a little and motioned for us both to pull up chairs so we
could talk some more.
“ That great news,” Becca said from beside me. “ How are you
feeling after yesterday? Not too bad I hope?”
“ Yeah, I’m fine, took down about five of them though. I was
shocked to find out about Lachlan being a part of their family, I had never of
guessed that,” I looked down to my hands and folded them in my lap. I hope that doesn’t mean anything bad. I
thought back to yesterday, everyone had seemed to just accept it after five
minutes or so of discussing it.
“ Well, he’s had my back ever since I met him, trust him
with my life. He’s only saved it about five time this past month,” I told her
trying to keep my voice stead again.
“ I would too. He doesn’t have the sort of character to go
and hurt or steal. He cares too much about people. Just like a hero should,”
“ Yeah,” it was all I could think to say. Thankfully, the
bell decided to ring then for us to all head to our period one class.
“ See you all tomorrow,” Miss Nocturn called out. As I went
to grab my stuff Harry was trying so hard not to laugh.
“What?”
“ You should have heard some of the things the people around
here were saying, ‘ teachers pet already!’ and ‘ its like they’re old friends!
She lived in Moonrise, how is that even possible?’ Oh Cass, I was trying so
hard to keep a straight face but honestly,”
“ I know, its hilarious watching you and Becca! I can’t
believe she hasn’t worked it out yet!” we walked from the classroom. I saw
Becca running down the halls to some of her friends and giving out high fives.
“ Right? Well, I have to go, extension math, Mr Byrne does
not like it when we’re late. Um, you have English with Mrs Jango, down the hall
on the right, Dominic should be there too,” and with that he turned and started
walking in the opposite way.
* * *
“Cassie! Over here!” I turned to see that Becca and about
half of her group were sitting out in the sun over in the courtyard. I spotted
Harry talking with one of the guys and laughing at a joke. I head over, being
welcomed with a number of ‘hey’ and ‘ What’s up’.
“ You didn’t get anything that wasn’t in a wrapper right?
You only ever get the salad and sausage rolls,” This came from Aiden, he was
the one who had made Harry laugh.
“ No, I just got some of the salad and a juice. It was the
same sort of thing at my old school, I know how to handle a cafeteria,”
“Told you she was smart,” I turned to see Caitlin. We had
had science together this morning, I had been ahead of everyone in class.
Apparently, that made me the smartest person alive.
“ No, I’m just good at science, Please tell the Harry,
Becca?”
“ No, Cassie is as dumb as a potato, she doesn’t even know
the alphabet,” Becca cracks up once she finishes talking
“ Too much help Becca, Harry?” I turn to him desperately.
“ Nope, Becca’s right, she doesn’t know the alphabet,” I
roll my eyes at both of them a feign a look of mock shock. Hitting Becca’s arm,
I start to eat my lunch. There’s a flurry of conversation, about classes and
holidays and everything else under the sun. It’s hard to keep up with it all
the time, especially when half way through a conversation on Aiden’s trip to
Japan (stopped an army of robots there last spring with Frostfire, it was fun)
my phone went off.
From Dean:
Get Harry and Becca,
your needed immediately. Stargazer has been alerted and is waiting for you to
meet her in her office. Harry will disappear before then. Don't respond to this
message just get to the base.
I quickly grab Becca and whisper in her ear that we have to
go. I give Harry a look and mouth “Base now” before Becca and I grab our stuff
and head off.
“ Does Harry know where your going?” Becca asks at our
lockers grabbing a few things.
“ He’ll work it out,”
* * *
“ Alright you two, try not to be too beaten up for tomorrow,
you do have school,” Stargazer says and she walks us out of the office.
“ You know we’ll be fine, see you tomorrow,” I said before
following Becca to her motor bike. We ride to the nearest place with a zeta
place (an abandoned building about a block away) and zeta to the cave.
Apollo
Arriving at school I was attacked by a flying hug.
“ Hey, how are you Kellie? Have a good holiday, also can you
let go? Your choking me,” Kellie lets go straight away and laughs at me
coughing when the air starts coming back into my lungs.
“ Sorry, I just
missed you! It was no fun, mum and dad were fighting again and Sam went back
into hospital,” I gave her a small hug with one arm as I saw the rest of the
group walking towards us. “ But apart from all of that, us four were at the
beach all of last week, why didn’t you come?”
Now the lying begins,
I think to myself.
“ I had a lot of stuff I had to do, I went to go and visit
friends in Crystost as well. We hadn’t seen each other for almost a year,”
“ Wait, did you go and see the Hero’s Heart Core bringing in
all their younger heroes and having Riddler attack them?” James asked me. He
was a little shorter than me and had these dark hazel eyes with flecks of
bright green through them. His blonde hair and fairer skin really set them out.
“ I was in the area but I didn’t see it in person, just on
the news,”
“Gordan, Taylor, you heard that too right? He was in the
area. Meaning he was somewhere near Raven!” I forgot how obsessive James could
be about Raven, last year for Halloween. He dressed up as a boy version of her.
“ Dude, I was like, half an hour away when that went down!”
“ Yeah Jay, you really need to let go of this chick, she
doesn’t even come to Sluggrave, she patrols in Moonrise,” Taylor said hitting
the back of James’ head. She was a tall skinny girl. Her ash brown hair was cut
in a stylish bob. Her eyes were this reddish brown colour, she was the only
person I had ever met to have those sort of eyes. Even Ember, one of the
villains I fight with Lumos, has a rich brown eyes, and she can turn herself
into a living flame.
“ Well, you know she’s single right? I heard her last
boyfriend dumped her for Selene,” I choked back a gasp at that.
“ Don't give him hope Gordan,” I turned to my best friend
from birth. “ Besides, I’ve met Raven,” I waited for the shocked faces. Getting
my wish I continued to tell them a false story about how I once met Raven, even
though I had kissed her yesterday. “ I was out one night when I was meeting my
brother in Moonrise when someone tried to attack me. Out of nowhere came Raven,
she kicked this guy down, tied him up and smiled at me saying ‘ you should be
more careful’ and then she just left me there,”
“Dude! Why haven’t you told me this story before?” James was
grabbing at my arm and trying to push me down to the ground. The rest of the
group was laughing at his antics with me.
“Because if I had told you, you would have hunted her down.
Besides, Raven wouldn’t be into a normal person, like all heroes, she would
want someone extra ordinary, heroic, different from the rest,” even though he
would still do it even now.
“ Guys, we have to get to homeroom, we’re about to get
yelled at by Mr Mcgolin,” Taylor pointed out as she turned to leave with
Kellie. Gordan, James and I all turned to look at each other before turning to
follow the girls. Bit I stop by the
lockers.
“Yeah, I just got to text one of my friends, be there soon,”
I call out to them as they nod and continue down the hall. Pulling out my phone
I typed out a quick text and sent it off.
To Cassie:
Have a great day at
school beautiful, can’t wait to see you later.
I was emptying some of the things into my locker when my
phone went off again. I quickly grabbed it out before I headed into homeroom.
The teachers let us use our phones in homeroom and at free periods. Our school was pretty cool like that.
From Cassie:
Thanks, I can’t wait
to see you too. And beautiful? Thank you, but let’s not start giving out
nicknames just yet. Not really my thing.
It was a few seconds later that a response came back.
To Cassie:

Kisses at the end of a text had to be a good thing so I
smiled before putting my phone in my pocket and gathering my things up for
class.

“ And that is when the Tyrene House of Law was built. Does
anyone have any questions?” yeah, when’s
this class going to be over? I
groaned inwardly as I continued to take notes on what the teacher was saying. Part
of a deal I have with my mum is that I have to get at least a b in each of my
classes or no more hero time. So paying attention was absolute, no matter what.
“ Class dismissed, make sure you read through the packet I
handed out at the start of class. You will have a quiz at the end of the week
on some of the things in it,”
Ping, Ping
From Omega:
Apollo, make your way
to base. You are needed. Do not reply to this message.
First day back and I hadn’t even made it to the start of
lunch. I hadn’t even got out of the classroom.
Running down the hall towards my locker I run into Bronte,
the girl who has it out for my group of friends.
“ Hey Lock, what you doing running so fast?” Apart from me! Why now? I thought to myself. Out of all the times in
the world Bronte had to choose now to try and get me to go out with her.
“ Look, I really have to go so unless someone is dying I
really don’t need to know,” that's when I pushed past and continued to run down
the hall to my locker. I heard Bronte call out my name but I just ignored her
and ripped my locker open grabbing my bag and running to the office to sign
out.
* * *
“ Lachlan, get over here! Your already late for your
appointment!” as I walked through the
doors, I was welcomed to the voice of my mentor.
“ Sorry Ramon, I’m coming,”
“ Well hurry. You know how busy the doctor is,” Lumos was
referring to Omega, and for a minute I wondered what job Omega really had in
his life. Whether it was a part time job as a gym trainer, or if he really was
a doctor.
I ran around to the other side of the room and followed
Ramon out of the building and towards the nearest zeta plate. Which happened to
be in the building right across the street. It was an old library, and in the
back room was where we had the plate installed. The current librarian was the
wife of Gremlin, a telepath on the HHC. He was one of the original members, so
he had arranged to have the plate installed there for future heroes and current
ones.
Lumos held the doors for me as we went through each one. As
I entered the zeta room, I rushed over to the computer to make sure it was
programmed for me to head to the base. Seeing as it had I yelled a quick
goodbye and jumped on to leave.

Now, I am going to tell you what it is like to be zetaed
halfway across the country. Fuzzy and tingly. That's about it. You get this
blackout moment where all you can feel is that fuzzy tingly feeling, like just
before pins and needles, and then you find yourself in another place. Its quite
cool if you ask me.
I heard yelling down the hall so I ran from the room and
straight into Knight. He had been holding a glass of water, so I was soaked
through to the bone and there was a draught coming in from somewhere. So I was
freezing cold now as well.
“Aw sorry man, didn’t see you coming,” Knight was in his uniform,
a pair of black/grey pants with combat boots, sword on his hip, light grey
shirt with silver armour along the arms and shoulders. He wore a cowl, but it showed his hair.
“It’s fine, what’s up with the screaming?”
“ Omega just gave the all clear for Raven to interrogate
David. She was really angry when she was heading in there. I’m going to guess
she was hurting the guy, badly,” Cobey looked slightly scared and horrified as
he was telling me what was going on.
“ Man, you look terrified. Was she really that mad?”
“ Dude, some may have said she was murderous. I’m just glad
Omega sent Tahlia and Becca in with her,”
“ Well, do you know what they’re trying to get out of him?”
“ I heard Omega mention something about Octave and a few
other villains. Also something to do with your family,”
“ Ok, I should go and get changed and check in then. Don’t
want to get in trouble with him on the first day,”

“ Good, you're here. You and Becca will be taking David to
John Gordan Penitentiary in an hour. Then you will meet us back here and await
further orders from me,” Omega stood at the end of the room. He didn’t even
turn around to talk to me.
“All clear,”
“Then you may go. Wait with Scar and Knight in the kitchen
area and have lunch,” and with that I turned and walked from the room.
Wonder how the
interrogations going. Wonder how many broken bones David will have by the time
he is in jail, I laugh quietly to myself. The guy had whatever coming for
him from Raven. I mean, the guy did take her cousin and put her in some sort of
coma.
Walking through the base I noticed that it did in fact look
a lot like a cave because of its stonewalls and flooring. There was carpeting in some of the rooms,
mainly the bedrooms, but the rest was solid stone. Going into the kitchen I see that Scar has his
laptop up and is showing a feed from the interrogation room to Knight. Walking up behind them I see the screen. The
girls are there beside Cassie, and she’s standing infront of him glaring at
David as though it would burn holes through him.
“ I’m asking one last time David, why did you take my cousin
hostage for all those years and what did you do to her?”
“ I told you, revenge. I wanted to get you back. I’m not
telling you what I did to her,” David was sounding smug.
“Argh!” then there was a huge smashing sound. From the looks
of things, David’s just had his head smashed into the table.
“ Told you she would do that,” Scar turns to look at Knight
and spots me and smirks. “ Bet you didn’t see that coming did you?”
“ He deserves what he gets. He held her cousin hostage for
years,” I say in a monotone back.
“ Good point. Well, I’m going to make popcorn, things just
got interesting,” Scar jumped off the stool he was sitting on and went over to
one of the cupboards.
“ I didn’t think it would get physical so fast. They’ve only
been in there five minutes,” Knight took a sip of his drink,” I mean, sure, it
was bound to happen, but five minutes seems to early to slam someone’s head
into a table,”
“ Nah, I think five minutes is the perfect time to slam
someone’s head,” Scar was walking back over and leant up on the counter, “
Omega once broke a guys nose in an interrogation within the first two minutes.
True that guy had just set a bomb off and had another three set to go off
within the hour but still,”
“ That sounds like it was necessary though, this not so much,”
“ Well, whatever let’s just watch. I bet ten bucks Becca’s
gonna have to hold Cassie back from breaking the guys arm,” I turn to see that
Scar was being serious.
“ Your on,” I shook his hand.
